Yearbook: Revised Approach + Section

Prior to finalising our print spec boards for our Surface Pattern yearbook we took the opportunity to adjust the type used within the book. We all spoke last week and discussed the use of Avenir for the header type and the book cover title. We thought that a contemporary looking serif might look better. After testing a few we settled on Georgia Regular Italic. It doesn't have any really light weight strokes in it, giving it a similar appearance of a slab serif but with more traditional curved typographic details. I accompanies our Avenir body copy perfectly. Here's the new improved cover design:
We're printing the cover CMYK and have yet to settle on the colour - it will be chosen in consultation with the SP course tutors. This blue is just an example. The type on the front will be matte white foil and we are toying with the idea of reversing out the spine as it is being printed CMYK.
The following is an example of a section of the book to display our variety in the spread layouts (very similar to our previous example).
The only real change to this example section is the changing of section titles to Georgia (above) and the  introduction of quotes in white spaces which will be tipped-in periodically throughout the book.
