Yearbook Layout - Initial Thumbs

This morning our yearbook team decided to address the issue of layout for the graduate pages. We talked about and sketched out our ideas. One thing is clear, the information needs to be isolated and 'together' in a sense, so as to not interfere with the images of the work. Positioning of the head shot, personal statement and contact info should be in a column or isolated in a corner. 

Another issue we have encountered is the positioning of the frames for work shots. We are using a 9 column grid per page as it is divisible by 3 (the magic number). The 9 column grid allows for plenty of flexibility but the size of the photo seems to be the problem - should you have a giant photo with lots of work in, smaller frames with specific work in or a combination of the two? We as a group are inclined to have a large photo with lots of work displayed - providing much more of an overview of some ones practice compared to a couple of selected items. A smaller frame could be added to show detail on the opposing page.

DPS with left hand isolation in in three columns, this would take up to much page room. This example demonstrates the size of the collection of work image we are thinking of. If we did get the BAGD yearbook we would 'dress' the shoot with peoples work to display it in the best way possible.
